With the new year some of you might be thinking, this is the year I am going to take the plunge and buy a boat. I have owned several over the last 10 years, ranging from a blow-up raft, to kayaks, bass boats, to jet boats. (more on each of those in coming posts).
So what types of things should you consider when buying a boat?
- What type of boat to buy?
- What will you tow it with?
- When will you have time to use it?
- What is your total budget?
- What is the impact on your family?
All of these are items to take into consideration and be honest with yourself when answering them. There are many people who are paying hundreds of dollars a month for a boat that they have not used in years.
Boating can enrich your life in many ways. I have made, and continue to make, wonderful memories with my friends and family out on various types of boats. There are a lot of headaches that come along with it however. Boat ramps are almost never fun, cleaning the boat is laborious, storage can be expensive etc.
