Subscription Boxes

Maybe I was missing fishing or maybe sheer boredom, but for some reason I decided to sign up for a subscription to a service that sends me new tackle every month.  There are many different subscription boxes out there, but I ended up choosing MonsterBass as my provider.  I selected the platinum level box which is their highest end box.

There are a few points that caused me to choose them over their competitors.  The first thing I liked was that it was regional.  You put in what part of the country you are in and the items they send you are catered to your area.  That way you don’t end up with saltwater fishing gear when you only fish in Kentucky.  Another thing I like is that if you signed up for a few months they send you a gift.  I signed up for three months and they sent me a free spinning reel.

They also have add-ons in case you want to spend more money.  I opted for the add on 6 pack lure box.

My items shipped very fast.  It arrived in only a few days.

My first impression is positive.  I was very happy with the 6 pack add on.  They were all crank baits which is what I personally use most of the time.  The reel is a Quantum Strategy.  I have some very old Quantum reels that I have caught many fish on, so I am excited to find out what the new one feels like.

The platinum box itself has a nice variety of chatter baits, soft plastics, and an interesting information packet.

Sum it up already!

While I have to say I haven’t used any of the tackle yet, they all appear to be high-quality tackle.  What I am hoping to accomplish with the subscription is to try new things.  I have used crankbaits for years with very little deviation from that plan.  This subscription custom builds a tackle set that is meant for my area and my time of year.  With the added information included in the packet, I can confidently use new tackle that I may otherwise not have tried.
