I was in third grade, but this year was different than most. COVID
started at the end of my second-grade year, however in 2021 COVID was
still around. So, I just did online school at home the entire year. The last
week of school I took off because I was going on a trip to HILTON HEAD
ISLAND with my family. It took ten hours to get there and I got a
headache, so that was annoying, but when we got there it was fun. We
did a ton of activities but there is one I want to write about in particular.
One where I caught a SHARK.
How we got there.
Our day started early. We woke up around 6:00 am and we drove to
the marina. We parked our car and had to walk a long way to get to the
boat. When we finally got there, we met the captain. He was young (not
compared to me) but he was in his twenties. The first part of the boat trip
we traveled to the fishing grounds. It was cold in the wind and it took a
while to get there.
What we did when we got to the fishing grounds and what we caught!
When we got to the fishing grounds, we baited our lines with live bait.
Our poles were larger than the poles my dad and I use when we go fishing.
I was super excited to go fishing out at sea like a real fisherman, but I had
no idea what I would catch that day. I put my fishing pole in some kind of
hole that holds fishing rods, later I found out those are simply called rod
holders. This type of fishing is different, you can just put the rod in the rod
holder and wait till you see your line move. I saw my line twitch and I ran
across the boat to get it. It was something big! Whatever it was it was super
hard to reel but I finally got it! It…… It was a SHARK! Oh my gosh I had
caught a shark all by myself now this was something I would never forget.
My brother who is four years older than I would also catch something he
would never forget, a ray, and, well it was pregnant so kind of weird.
Conclusion
This moment was very special to me, my dad, my step mom, and my
brother. So, what I’m saying is always cherish those memories with your
loved ones because one day you will wish you could just make one more.
My family is still alive and well, but I know I should make as many good
memories as I can before I can’t anymore.
